Team (Berlin)Jan-Friedrich Kallmorgen, MA, MSc, is the founder and Chairman of the Atlantic Initiative. After graduating with a master’s in history and political science from the Freie Universität Berlin, he finished a master's program at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service with a focus on U.S. foreign policy and international finance. Previously, he worked in journalism as a business consultant in Washington, D.C, and as an investment manager with Goldman, Sachs & Co. Jan also heads the Transatlantic Program at the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP). Johannes Bohnen is also founder and serves as Chairman of the Atlantic Initiative. Johannes studied International Relations at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and received his doctorate degree from Oxford University in England. Following positions with several think tanks, the German Bundestag and the German government, he was managing director of Scholz & Friends Agenda, a public affairs agency in Berlin, Germany. Andreas Beckmann is a Staff Writer for the Atlantic Community. Andreas was a research assistant in political science for a professor at the Helmut-Schmidt-University of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg and Christian-Albrechts-Universität at Kiel for seven years. He has also worked in various postions in politics, academics, and translation. He holds a master's degree in Political Science, Public Law, and English, which he studied in Kiel and Pennsylvania State University. Casey Butterfield is Editor-in-Chief of the Atlantic Community. Casey studied Comparative Literature at the University of California, Berkeley, and holds a master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Cambridge. She is a former Fulbright scholar and has worked as an editor, writer and translator in Spain, Great Britain and the United States. Eddie Hartmann is Co-Editor of Global Agenda. Eddie studied Sociology, Political Science and Philosophy at the Universität Hamburg, the Freie Universität Berlin and the Institut d’Etudes Politiques and the Institut d’Etudes Politiques (Sciences-Po) in Paris. He has most recently worked for Bertelsmann AG and the Aspen Institute Berlin. Eddie is currently conducting graduate work at the Berlin Graduate School of Social Sciences (BGSS) of the Humboldt University in Berlin and the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris on the topic of "Practices of Self-Exclusion" and the dynamics of social closure in multicultural societies. Annika Kahrs is the Executive Assistant for the Atlantic Initiative. Annika is currently finishing her master’s degree in Political Science, Philosophy and German Literature at the Freie Universität Berlin, where in Political Science she has specialized in International and Transatlantic Relations. She is particularly interested in International Law and Immigration. She has worked at the Goethe Institut in Chicago, at the Transatlantic Department of the German Council on Foreign Relations, and in the administration of the Berlin soccer club Hertha BSC. Annette Pölking is a Staff Writer for the Atlantic Community and Events Manager for the Atlantic Initiative. Annette studied Political Science and History at the Universität Siegen, the University of Massachusetts at Boston and the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität in Freiburg. Her recent professional experience includes work at the Lehrstuhl für Internationale Politik at the University of Freiburg. After graduating she worked at the IES Freiburg’s EU Program and the Körber Foundation in Berlin. Björn Sacknieß is Co-Editor of Global Agenda and Office Manager for the Atlantic Initiative. Björn studied Political Science, Public Policy and Modern European History at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität at Kiel and the Universidad de Cantabria in Spain. After finishing his Master’s degree, he volunteered in Ecuador at the newsdesk of Ecuavisa, the country’s leading television network. Björn has previously worked at the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) and at Internationale Politik, a German political journal. Sylke Tempel is Consulting Editor of the Atlantic Community. Sylke studied Political Science and Jewish Studies at the Universität München and received her PhD in Political Science, History and Jewish Studies from the Universität der Bundeswehr. Sylke teaches at the Stanford Study Center Berlin and is a freelance journalist. Her most recent publications are a book on globalization and Die Tageschau erklärt die Welt [Rowohlt Berlin]. Team (Washington, DC)Bill Stokes directs Atlantic Initiative operations in the United States. Bill graduated from the College of William & Mary in Virginia and pursued graduate studies in international economics and Western European politics at The George Washington University. Previously, he served as Managing Director at EndeavorConnect, Director of Development at the American Institute for Contemporary German Studies (AICGS) and as Chief of Staff at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Currently he is a Partner at CapitolWorks Executive Search and Chairman of the Washington Network Group, in Washington, DC.
